Unsteady paws carried the loner towards somewhere. Maybe another pack's land. Or maybe just another unclaimed territory. Nose twitched slightly, taking in scents of wolves, besides this halfbreed. Claimed land, that's just great, his mind thought, as he began to turn around. Kar was horrible with other wolves, especially purebreds.
But then again, who would want a halfbreed in their pack? You had to be desperate to accept him into a pack. He had been cursed to have the looks, and nature, of a border collie. Then Kar hadn't even been born into a pack. So he had been a loner since his mother had died, killed by pure blooded wolves.
Kar had remember what his mother had made him promise when he had been a pup. She had made him tell her he would find a pack, no matter what. But now, even Kar was testing the limits of how optimistic he could be. He had begun to doubt if he would ever find someone who would like to have a halfbreed that would do anything he could to prove himself. Most wolves actually frowned upon his existence.
Kar now needed to find a route around this area, and where he could lose his scent. he wished it winter so his scent would almost be impossible to track, but it wasn't. The autumn breeze blew, and he realized how it was cooling down now. Leaves were falling from trees, and he was careful to not step on any of the the leaves. Added noise would make it easier to find him.
Kar sighed, and began to walk away from the scents he had picked up.

A female wolf padded on soft leaves, letting them crunch beneath her large paws. Suddenly, the wolfess paused as a scent drafted into her nose - wolf. Or was it? She was unsure, but she knew she had to investigate. Leaping into an area clear of leaves, she closed dark brown - almost black eyes and let her ears do the rest. To the left. The male..thing, is to the left. Slowly she crept through the shadows, muscles tense under an odd coat; Dashes of bright blond, dark brown, and everything in between spotted in random places on her shaggy pelt, in an odd mix. Stopping suddenly, the female, also known as Shekon, sniffed the air. Almost there. About 3 feet away. Peering behind a tight scraggle of rose bushes, she eyed the male before her. He looked so..doggish. Half-breed.. She thought, watching as he passed her.

Head turned slowly towards his left, as auds perked up. Silence. Yet, there had been a noise. He had heard it. It was probably game or something. Nothing of immediate interest. Optics looked around suspiciously, as mind thought of half-crazed wolves jumping out of bushes, getting ready to kill him.
Then, they caught something. A wolf. Nostrils flared, picking up her scent. She was nearby. Very nearby. There was no reason to be alarmed, no reason to run. But it was another wolf. And wolves hated Kar for what he had been born. But he still walked along, wary, but not running away. Running away would be cowardly. And he didn't need to add that to his list of reasons to hate Kar.

Silently, Shekon continued down the line of bushes as the male walked faster. SNAP!- A twig cracked in half behind her. She cursed below her breath, and scootched farther back. Be a shadow. She thought, closing her eyes, keeping auds perked. She wasn't about to get caught, not now.

Kar turned completely around, and stopped still. Reclining to his haunches he said one thing, in his voice, the voice that tells you he trusts you completely," I know you're there. Just ta tell ya." The last few words were oddly pronounced.
He looked into the woods, and caught sight of the wolfess again. Oddly enough, he was grinning. Because she hadn't attacked him yet, he figured she wasn't harmful.

Sighing and dropping her head, she slowly reappeared out of the bushes. Raising her head, she grinned. "Hi, I'm Shekon." Her stance straighted, then relaxed as she sat back on her haunches. "You're a half-breed, aren't you?" The question escaped her before she could stop it.

"I am Kar. Pleased to meet you." After a pause he finally said,"Yes, I am a halfbreed." His voice was cheerful. though it had taken sort of a sad note when he had said that.
He looked around, for an escape of some sort. He'd rather not be questioned by this wolf. It was.... unnerving for him. Very unnerving.

"Oh." Shekon nodded, taking it in for a moment, then smiled. "Nice to finally find someone out here. It seems no one likes the dark wood." She spoke kindly and softly, noticing the sudden drop in his attutide, as if embarrased to be a half-breed.

"It's okay," Kar said, realizing that Shekon wanted to make him feel better. Just something else he had done wrong. she had no reason to apologize to him. But it was okay. He had overreacted. It was technically his fault. "Yeah, everyone's somewhere else." Kar remarked, noticing that there were almost no scents nearby here.

Shekon tilted her head a moment, but it swiveled back. "Yeah. I love it here - so dark, so peaceful-" She closed dark eyes and breathed in, but opened them again. "so calming." Releasing the large breath, she itched her side for a moment. "Where ya headed? I've been roaming around here for a while. Can help you find where you want to go." She took another large breath, scents of all sorts filling her nose.

"Somewhere in those packlands," Kar said, nodding towards where the outskirts ended and you would be in Akani's territory. "I think I've been accepted, but I'm not too sure, no one ran me out, anyway," he grinned, as not being ran out of somewhere was good.
"Wanna come?" he asked, orbs staring at where he was headed still," I'm sure the alphess, Akani, will accept you into the pack too. As I said before, I think I'm in it." Then both multi-colored eyes switched back to Shekon. Maybe Kar was going to make a friend.

Shekon thought about it a moment. "I was thinking about settling down for a while. I'm a bit restless, but this will be good for me." She gave a wolfish grin, standing up. "To..the pack!" She said rather loudly, walking forward in the direction Kar had nodded. "Oh, and if you ever find yourself in a predicament with purebreeds who dislike halfbreeds, tell them you know a purebreed that's sure to kick their," She paused her step and sentence, finishing with "tail." And continued forward.

Kar grinned, and then, in a burst of energy, started running at full speed. "Bet'cha you can't catch me!" he yelled. It was puppyish, but it was Kar. And he couldn't help who he was. He was extremely fast. It was both the collie and the wolf. The genes had benefited each other. Although he looked funny, he had gotten the skills of each.

Pushing her body back, she sprung forward, muscles in her leg pulsing. "I bet'cha I can!" Her long legs and large paws propelled her forward, eyes set on the prize. She was about 5 feet away, but she could catch him. Swerving to the side, she dodged a large oak in her way. Again she pushed off of a long root, saving some of her energy. BOY was this halfbreed fast!

Kar grinned, he was winning. "Told ya you couldn't," he yelled behind him, and then, in quite a comical way, tripped over a root. He just started laughing. It was funny after all. He had done something like a flip.
Of course he wasn't feeling any pain, and that's why it was funny. That he could be stopped by something like a tree root. It was... quite amusing. And now, Shekon had started to win.
